Sebastian Urrutia Lacroix, priest and literary critic, also a member of Opus Dei, is certainly sure of his imminent death, so one night, burning with fever he thinks about the most important moments of his life and is chased by delusions of monsters. Along the story appear two ambiguous messengers and a Guatemalan painter who dies of starvation in the Paris of 1943.
