Twenty-one years ago, in a single night of terror, Raymond Lomak earned a kind of immortality for himself as the most notorious mass murderer of our time. Today, at noon, the gates of San Quentin prison will open and Raymond Lomak, apparently rehabilitated, will go free. Through his eventual meeting up with the fabulously wealthy and colorful Tex Harnett, cowboy movie star of years past and present owner of Los Angeles' professional football team, Lomak is set on a collision course with his own past. Richard Pomerantz, the psychiatrist appointed by the parole board to watch over Lomak, is the one man who knows how dangerous Lomak really is. Their growing antagonism may be the trigger to a deadly violence. Two ghastly murders follow, and Lomak is brought to trial.
