When the father of a murder victim kills the perpetrator of that crime, his rabbi sees the killing as illegal but not necessarily immoral. The rabbi, Daniel Winter, quickly finds himself surrounded by opponents. When a second, even more shocking murder occurs a few days later, it seems as if Rabbi Winter may have unknowingly unleashed dangerous anarchic tendencies hidden inside all of us.
